Dear parents and students,
In addition to the havoc wreaked by the pandemic this year, there has also been division caused by a contentious election, economic issues, and racial injustice. Emotions are high and people are under incredible stress. It's easy to get caught up in complaining and criticizing. It’s much harder to take a deep breath and to imagine what another person may be experiencing. Earlier this fall I visited the sophomore English class during a discussion of To Kill an Mockingbird and since then I keep coming back to the Atticus Finch statement, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
